The Journal of Urban Development and Smart Cities in Central Asia is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and originality. Plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited and is treated as a serious ethical violation.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is defined as the use of another person’s ideas, words, data, or work without proper acknowledgment. This includes but is not limited to:

  1. Direct Plagiarism: Copying text verbatim without citation.
  2. Self-Plagiarism: Reusing one’s own previously published content without proper attribution or justification.
  3. Paraphrasing: Rewriting someone else’s ideas without appropriate citation.
  4. Data Plagiarism: Using data from other sources without permission or acknowledgment.

Plagiarism Detection

  1. Initial Screening:

    • All submitted manuscripts undergo a plagiarism check using advanced detection tools such as Turnitin or iThenticate.
    • Manuscripts with a similarity index above 15% (excluding references, quotes, and common phrases) will be flagged for editorial review.
  2. Editorial Review:

    • The editorial team evaluates flagged manuscripts to determine the extent and nature of the overlap.
    • Minor overlaps may result in a request for revisions, while significant plagiarism will lead to rejection.
